Fried Bread

On March  25th, Carlton School went to Putiki Marae in Wanganui. We learnt how to make fried bread and we are going to tell you how:

Ingredients

3 1/2 c self raising flour
1/2 tsp salt
cold water to mix

good quality oil for frying
How to make it

In a large bowl measure the flour, then add salt...gradualy add enough cold water to make a soft dough, mix through with a wooden spoon, but try not to over mix, as this can make them stiff and flat...

turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and push or roll dough out to 1 1/2 cm thickness..

cut into the desired size, then place each peice into the preheated hot oil and fry til golden on both sides and twice the size...

The Origin of Carly and Tony by Renei P.

On March 7th we decided to make a class mascot.

To start our mascot Mr Waite put up posters saying - 'IT IS COMING.' Then we brainstormed about what it a good mascot would look like.

Jessica then wrote a letter to Mr Peterson asking him to come in a talk to our class and tell us his vision for the school.

Mr Waite put up YouTube videos about how to draw cartoons.  In our own time we got to design our mascots and colour them in.

On Monday (21st March) we voted for our top 3 designs.  The first 5 with the top votes had to go to the library and write a short speech about their mascot and why it should be our mascot.

We then went back to class and the final votes were tallied.  I WON with 25 votes.

After Morning Tea, Lawrence, Miss Kirkwood's boyfriend came in and fixed it up.

The next day we had a colouring in competition for our mascot.  Biasha won.
