My Pet
My favourite pet is my cat she has ginger fur, I don’t know what type of breed she is.
Her name is Griffin she has green eyes and a pink nose with black dots on it. When she is angry she waves her tail very slowly.
Griffin likes salmon but she hates all other types of fish she eats cat biscuits and jelly meat. She drinks water left lying about.
She runs away a lot sometimes the only way to get Griffin is to give her cat biscuits. If I’m sneaky I can grab her but other times she runs really fast.
She’s not playful and she likes to sleep on my bed because she likes me.
I think cats make great pets because they are really quiet.

My Pet
My favourite pet is my kitten. He is a brown Burmese and his fur is short and soft.
His name is Magnum and he has light green eyes and big ears. His paws are soft underneath. When he is happy he will come and cuddle you.
Magnum likes to eat mince and cat biscuits mixed in with one another.
He is very playful and loves to chase his tail and the dog’s tail. Sometimes Magnum pounces on you and falls asleep. Magnum takes turns at sleeping in our rooms, but he sleeps with me most of the time. He sometimes goes outside as long as someone is outside with him.
I think that Cats are the best because they are very cuddly and loyal.

Writing to Terrorism Experts
Te Maungarongo Maarie e-mailed Richard Barrett to ask him questions about September 11.
Richard Barret's Reply:
Thank you for your enquiry about the terrorist attacks in the United States on 9/11/2001.
1. Were there certain people they wanted to kill? No. The attacks killed random people. But the attack on the Pentagon was designed to hit Defence officials, and the planned attack on the US Capital (the 'plane crashed in Pennsylvania) was intended to hit law makers. It is also possible that this aircraft might have been aimed at the White House in which case the hijackers would have hoped to kill President Bush (although he was not there at that time).
2.Did the terrorists mean to crash? Yes. They intended to hit their targets with the 'planes. They chose long haul flights which they knew would be carrying a lot of fuel and hijacked them soon after take off.
3. Did the terrorists target 9/11 as the day? No. The hijackers chose the day, not Usama bin Laden. This means that they chose a day when everything would be ready, not a day that had been decided by Al-Qaida. The date 9/11 was chosen in August, so not very long before the attacks.

The tramp ( with a pooy sitution)
On Tuesday the 30th of August Room Six and nine people from Room Five went on a tramp at the Westmere walkway.
We finally arrived, the people who sat on the back of the bus emerged out of the bus followed by the middle and then the front.
We stood at the start of the walkway while Mr Waite put us in groups.I got put in Group One, only one of my friends got put in my group, it was Tem.
The hills were gigantic, weirdly shaped, and small it was so tiring. If I drank lots of water I would waste my water so I drank it slowly. From my point of view I was'nt excpecting it to be so hard but kept on walking and dodging cowpats, peew!
It was time for morning tea I had my peach and a few of my chips. Then we carried on, ''Ohhhkk! Mr Waite there's cowpatts everywhere ''.So then he started jumping in the icky poo then Grace started to jump in the poo to, "ewww!" Then he jumped in a big ozey one.
We stoped for lunch, "mmmm" I sat down by Ulani to eat my sandwiches, biscuits, popcorn and to drink some of my water. After that I chatted to friends and played in a stream trying to stop people from building a dam.
On the way back I saw a horse that kept on bucking so I called it Bucky , we carried on walking and waited for the bus to pick us up and it came about 2 minutes later. Off we went back to school.

On September 12, Room 6 studied September 11
SOME OF ROOM 6'S SEPTEMBER 11 QUESTIONS
Why didn't the flight attendants call the Air Force?
Why did they hijack these particular planes?
Why those buildings?
Why four planes? Why not more?
How long did it take them to plan the attacks?
Why did the terrorists want to hijack the planes?
How did they smuggle weapons on to the plane?
Did they give clues beforehand?
Why did they have to kill the pilots?
Were they experienced pilots? Who taught them to fly?

Westmere Walkway
On the 30th of August all of Room Six went on a walk. We went there to practice for camp. It was a humongous farm.
At the start of thewalk it was raining. Everone had lots of energy. Once we started going up the hill we lost all our energy. It was boring.
Once we had gone half way up the hill we started singing 'Dora the Explorer'. We all started strugling up the hill. When we had finally reached the top of the hill we had morning tea.Climbing the hill was really exhausting
After at least another hour of torturing walking we had lunch. After that everyone was making a dam in the creek. Some people were taking photos. Ethan and I kept climbing up the hill and running down. It was really fun. After that we walked to the street and went back to school on a bus. It was a really astonishing day at the farm.

More Stuff for the Narrative
PLOT: Dr Jorlisha is the new dentist in town, Garrison and Imagine are instantly suspicious of her, everyone just carries on regardless. Dr Jorlisha sees these bracelets, she has one herself but needs all 3 to rule this world, and unlock the special powers of that world. She already rules the underworld. She needs to place all 3 bracelets into a rock at the same time to gain control of this world. She had a sister who had all 3 bracelets handed down to her from her mother (Garrison’s grandmother). Her sister realising the type type of person Jorlisha was turning into gave 2 of the bracelets to her twin children (Imagine & Garry) and sadly split adopted them out separately to strangers (in the middle of the night as it’s raining). Dr Jorlisha tracks down her sister and throws her into the underworld where she is frozen and imprisoned in a chamber. By chance Garrison and Imagine happen to end up living next to eachother. Dr Jorlisha must complete the spell by (certain date – which happens to be the twin’s birthday) to make it work otherwise Garrison and Imagine’s mum will go free. The bracelets must be destroyed in some certain fashion.

Hard brown ground
In Winter when it rains the paddocks flood but as soon as it drys up the grass turns brown as brown as wood.
My Dad and I tried to dig a hole into were it was the brownest part but the ground was hard so the shovels just went tink! I said to my Dad "why is the ground so hard ?" He said "because we havent had much rain lately."
My Dad went to the shed and got the sledge hammer to try break the ground a big crack went right through the ground he hit the ground again Boom! It was so much easier to dig.

Visit to the Mayor
On Wednesday my class a few parents and I went on a successful day out. Our first stop was to visit the District Council and meet Annette Main. She talked about being a successful Mayor. Then we asked a few
questions and tried on her shiny gold chain. When everyone tried it on, we had a shared morning tea which
was already set up when we got into the council chambers. Then a lady named Diana talked about all the glass windows and how special they are. My favourite window was Kowhai Park because it's so colourful.
After Cole had thanked Annette we got our bags and walked to Sport Wanganui.

Seeing Annette Main
Room 6 went to see Annette Main the Mayor of Wanganui because our topic has been success and we think that shes successful.
We walked up the stairs wanting to run.We all squashed up against the window looking at the Council Chambers.Diana, the receptionist took us into the Chambers."WOW!" I said Annette Main said,"Hello Room 6." We all then asked her questions after she said her speech.
There were beautiful and colourful windows up around the Chambers keeping the sun out, that reflected things that were important to Wanganui. My favourite was the Kowhai Park window, because it was so colourful to all the other ones.We all had to say goodbye and go to Sport Wanganui." I enjoyed seeing Annette Main and I hope that I get to see her again."I said, "Now I know that you need to have people skills to be a Mayor."

Cheeky Bird
Dad called me to the balcony. I hurried up getting dressed and came out. A cheeky looking rainbow lorikeet was sitting on the ledge head turned towards my Dad’s girlfriend Karen. Suddenly it flew up onto Karen’s head. It then found her earrings and eyed them. The bird got one of her earrings out of her ear and held it tightly in it’s beak. Dad started a tug of war with the bird.
I heard my toast pop. I quickly ran inside and spread peanut butter on it and went back outside with a piece in my hand. The cheeky bird was back on the ledge. I lent on the ledge to eat, and the bird spotted my toast. It hopped onto my hand and started making its way to the hand with the toast in it. I pulled the toast away and it bit my arm. Goodbye toast.

Fried Bread
On March 25th, Carlton School went to Putiki Marae in Wanganui. We learnt how to make fried bread and we are going to tell you how:
Ingredients
3 1/2 c self raising flour
1/2 tsp salt
cold water to mix
good quality oil for frying
How to make it
In a large bowl measure the flour, then add salt...gradualy add enough cold water to make a soft dough, mix through with a wooden spoon, but try not to over mix, as this can make them stiff and flat...
turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and push or roll dough out to 1 1/2 cm thickness..
cut into the desired size, then place each peice into the preheated hot oil and fry til golden on both sides and twice the size...

To start our mascot Mr Waite put up posters saying - 'IT IS COMING.' Then we brainstormed about what it a good mascot would look like.
Jessica then wrote a letter to Mr Peterson asking him to come in a talk to our class and tell us his vision for the school.
Mr Waite put up YouTube videos about how to draw cartoons. In our own time we got to design our mascots and colour them in.
On Monday (21st March) we voted for our top 3 designs. The first 5 with the top votes had to go to the library and write a short speech about their mascot and why it should be our mascot.
We then went back to class and the final votes were tallied. I WON with 25 votes.
After Morning Tea, Lawrence, Miss Kirkwood's boyfriend came in and fixed it up.
The next day we had a colouring in competition for our mascot. Biasha won.
